As an official sponsor of the London 2012 Olympics, BMW has developed a feature that forces drivers to get in shape for the games – the ‘Driverless Running Coach.’ This feature uses exterior cameras and ConnectedDrive to chase you on your run and provide coach-like support. Here’s what you can expect:

• Words of encouragement from integrated exterior speakers.
• Lock Out Logistics (LOL) keeps the car locked until the set distance is completed.
• Intimidating pounding of the pavement through trick suspension.

Another great April fools joke from BMW, right? Not so fast. Does anyone remember the M3 pick-up BMW showed off to the world on April 1st, 2011? While we all had a laugh and assumed BMW had photoshopped the pictures, it turns out that the pictures were real and a BMW M3 Pick-up had actually been built. Not for mass production, but as a replacement to the sole E30 M3 pick-up used as a parts hauler around the Munich plant. So while we’re 99.99% sure this is an April fool’s joke, there’s a chance that one determined engineer in Munich is staying late tonight to see if they might be on to something.
