Another great April fools joke from BMW, right? Not so fast. Does anyone remember the M3 pick-up BMW showed off to the world on April 1st, 2011? While we all had a laugh and assumed BMW had photoshopped the pictures, it turns out that the pictures were real and a BMW M3 Pick-up had actually been built. Not for mass production, but as a replacement to the sole E30 M3 pick-up used as a parts hauler around the Munich plant. So while we’re 99.99% sure this is an April fool’s joke, there’s a chance that one determined engineer in Munich is staying late tonight to see if they might be on to something.
Let’s also take a look at some brilliant BMW April fools pranks from the past several years.
Hola! I’ve been following your web site for some time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Austin Tx! Just wanted to tell you keep up the good job!
At BMW, April Fools is very serious business.
There was also the (Canadian) ad for patented BMW technology: lasers which would melt the ice on the road ahead, leaving the car to travel safely onwards.
Alvin Alaff takes his job very serious.
